Masterclasses London 2019

One day Master Class in London 'Coaching to Change Lives'

Next Masterclass is January 30th 2020 in central London. The November day is now full. See www.coachingandtrauma.com  for details and booking. Come and find out why coaches need to understand trauma, and that there is nothing to fear.  This day and my book make it clear how to be trauma-informed and remain within  coaching  boundaries.
The next Masterclass in Central London is Thursday November 21st.  The masterclass offers a simple way of understanding the complexities of trauma, defines the terminology, and defuses any anxiety coaches may have about trauma and coaching.

My Book 'Coaching and Trauma: moving beyond the Survival Self' is due to be published in August 2019. Look for it! I will be posting more about it when it is available. One reviewer said:
" In this well-researched, practical and highly readable book, Julia Vaughan Smith explains how early trauma can impact us in our day-to-day lives and shows up in coaching.  She describes the various ways that a client can present in coaching through their trauma, survival and healthy selves, she advises us to work with the client's healthy self and how to recognise if we are getting entangled with the client and what to do about it.  The theory is brought to life with personal examples from Julia's own life story and relevant coaching case studies.  Trauma and Coaching is essential reading for coaching supervisors and coaches and the important messages in the book can be shared, in an appropriate way, with clients.  I thoroughly recommend it - it has transformed my practice"

Comments from previous Masterclasses
"The workshop Jenny and Julia ran on Coaching and Trauma has completely revitalised and shifted my practice. They were both brilliant facilitators and complement each other in their styles. The space to reflect and practise the approaches with experienced coaches was invaluable. I recommend the workshop to experienced coaches and hope Jenny and Julia do a follow up so I can consolidate my learning."
"What a great masterclass! Jules and Jenny used their knowledge and experience with clients to put trauma into a coaching context that was invaluable to me as a seasoned coach. I am now able to rationalise when coaching may not be appropriate and use 'trauma models' to adapt my coaching approach. The learning was enriched by working with a group of distinguished coaches. A day to reflect and refresh that I highly recommend."
"I wish I'd attended a class like this years ago. It freed me to give meaningful consideration to hitherto taboo elements of a client's story. We've all developed as Coaches knowing we must rigidly observe therapeutic boundaries and therefore be largely future focuses; all find and dandy but sometimes not enough to shine light into complex corners. This thought provoking day opened up new avenues of enquiry, constantly reiminding us that we are not diagnosticians yet at the same time recognising that there are things in the 'there and then' which play their part in whatever is going on in the 'here and now'."
"It is rate to find a training that can so powerfully shift one's perspective on clients. This training understands relatively common experiences such as trauma and identifies fresh approaches, both to understand them, and to move forward without dwelling on the past. This programme is a must for any seasoned practitioner."

Comments:
“This work has proved both fascinating and significant in taking my coaching to another level. The insights I’ve gained from defining what trauma actually is and how this shows up in a coaching partnership, either in myself or my client, has made a profound change to how I work.
Shirley Greenaway, Executive Coach
"Knowing about Franz Ruppert's work helped me to understand myself and when I am coaching in survival mode, which allows me to be more in touch with my healthy self, both in daily life and as a coach. In addition, being able to share something about the theory with clients who are open to deep learning has helped their understanding of themselves." JHS, Leadership Coach, Somerset

Workshops in London 2017

Identity Focused Supervision CPD 2 day workshop for therapy and coaching practitioners.
17th & 18th November.
"I would highly recommend this workshop if you want to undertake some deeper experiential, even therapeutic work on yourself in relationship to your traumatised part and survival strategies.  The workshop uses a unique approach to constellations that brings to life a powerful model of identity splits in the psyche (created by Professor Franz Ruppert). I suspect I may look back at this event as a seminal moment in my long term healing process, as well as helping me make sense of the way that trauma and survival selves show up in coaching." Anon
